Meditation is a means of calming and training the mind that has a profound effect on our physical, spiritual, and emotional states of being. It is known as a tool for elevating our level of consciousness about both ourselves and the world around us.
While the Art of Meditation may indeed be simple, it is certainly not easy to practice at first – especially in a fast-paced world where self-reflection and inner stillness are rarely encouraged.
I practiced meditation for many years with very little success; I always had an issue with keeping the mind still and calm. I had no idea how to control it. I find this is common among many people who try meditation are discouraged by their inability to calm the mind.
It wasn’t until I enrolled in my Yoga Teacher Training program and was instructed by my wonderful guru that I finally learned how to relax into meditation – and even with his wise guidance, it was a struggle. But the vocal guidance and techniques that he shared with us were paramount in my overcoming my difficulty in calming the mind and tuning inwards.
It is this same guidance and technique that I bring into my meditation classes, with the hope of helping others who struggle with meditation and relaxation like I once did, to find peace, tranquility, and the empowering ability to quiet your mind.
