Quote of the Day: Zenji

Port Credit Marina in the springtime

“Life and death are of supreme importance.
Time swiftly passes by and opportunity is lost.
Each of us should strive to awaken.
Take heed, do not squander your life.”
~ Dogen Zenji

This life given to us is a unique opportunity to grow and learn – we can do a lot with the time we are given, or we can do very little. Each moment and choice is a precious opportunity to expand and evolve not only physically and economically in a phenomenal sense, but also consciously and spiritually in a cosmic sense.

I find some people wonder why spiritual pursuits are of any importance in relation to the modern structure of society and life we all live in. The rewards of the physical realm – a job or business, economic success, wealth, assets, even family and friends, etc. – are wonderful; however, they are not truly ours as they physically do not continue on past this life – while our conscious energies do.

In contrast, the rewards of the spiritual realm affect our energies and our spirits, cultivating expansion and wisdom that remains with us past the death of this physical body. Meeting the needs of the physical realm is merely a stepping stone to delving beyond and expanding our mastery of the spiritual realm.

There is so much more to this physical life that exists around us; it is wise to focus our time and energies on growing ourselves in ways that serve us after this body dies!

Enjoy a lovely weekend, friends, xo
