“It’s not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential.”
~ Bruce Lee
Finding truth and peace truly is about letting go of the unnecessary to focus on the necessary, like the wise Meister Ekhart Tolle also said in this past Wednesday’s QOTD post.
On the path of a spiritual aspirant, it is a basic requirement to reaching higher levels of awareness and consciousness.
It seems strange at first to begin cutting out the ‘unessential’, things you have become so used to doing. But change is good! And cutting these things out opens up the time, space, and frame of mind to focus on what you should or would prefer to be doing with your time.
I always hear people talk about how the ‘have no time’ to do this or that – work out, eat healthier, meditate, etc. – and then I hear them talk about all the things they do in a day that are completely unnecessary and not self-serving: watching television, getting lost surfing internet junk, and other socially-accepted normal daily activities. I used to do it; I think we all have at some point!
Little do we realize that we have so much time that we can redirect into better activities. If we choose to; if we make it a priority to us. Attitude is key!
