“The power of willful ignorance cannot be overstated.”
~ Kate Miles
Wow. I’d forgotten about this post I wanted to write back in June and found a brief draft of it saved. It made me realize again what a profound message the quote and the video it was taken from share with the world. And I get to share one more photo from the James Gardens collection!
Note the use of the word willful in her quote. It is one thing to be ignorant, but open-minded to learning, growth, and change; it is a completely different thing to become complacent in your ignorance, to find comfort in the status quo, especially when something inside you whispers that it’s not right.
I heard this quote while watching a video about how powerful marketing can be, especially in regards to modern diet habits and the factory farming industry. You can view this great 7 minute film by Catsnake Films here.
Whether you eat meat and other animal products or choose not to, we should all be aware of the realities behind the nicely-packaged products we can purchase in our local grocery stores.
Awareness isn’t just key when it comes to self, thoughts, feelings, and behaviour; we must strive to cultivate awareness in all aspects of our daily life and how our lifestyles interact and affect the world and beings around us.
If you end up watching the film, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
